Black Gold (Part1)
Contrary to what its name implies, black gold is not the color of gold. Rather, it typically refers to a variety of gold that has been purposefully treated or coated to give it a black color. To obtain the intended appearance, several substances or treatments are used, changing the characteristic golden sheen into a darker, more dramatic black coloring.
Black-colored gold can be made in a number of ways:
* Surface Treatments: The gold surface can be made black by electroplating or applying surface treatments like ruthenium or black rhodium. These coatings give the illusion of darkness while preserving the underlying qualities of gold.
* Alloying: Blackened gold is created by combining gold with other metals or alloys that naturally give off a black hue. For example, gold can become a darker tone by adding certain proportions of metals like cobalt, chromium, or iron.
